Parents of Child Born in Panama Permanent Residency

Parents of Child Born in Panama Permanent Residency
Panama enacted a new law in 2012 allowing the parents of a child born in Panama during the previous 5 years to apply for permanent residency.
Foreigners who over stayed their visas and illegal immigrants whose children were born in Panama caused a legal quandary. The child was a citizen of Panama while the mother was an illegal alien who could be arrested and deported. Panama’s Constitution prevents a Panama citizen from being deported. If the mother was deported while the child couldn’t be deported, who will take care of the child?
Now both parents can become permanent residents.
